Volunteering
We had lots of people last year asking us do more – more fun swims, more lessons, more everything! All the people involved are all unpaid volunteers and there are only so many hours in the day! We happily give up our free time to run the pool, because we are all passionate about giving people the opportunity to learn to swim, but it takes a lot of commitment and a lot of time to organise. In order to give everyone in the community the opportunity to use the pool to its full potential we need more people to help run the pool, and more lifesavers to keep everyone safe.
Could you spare a few hours a week volunteering at the pool or helping to organise the running of the pool? We would love to offer more activities at the pool, such as junior lifeguard training, aqua aerobics, extra lessons and fun sessions. Pool time is available, but more volunteers are required to make it work.
We are especially in need of volunteers who would be willing to train as lifesavers. Once trained, you will be able to assist with swimming lessons, fun swims and parties. Lifesavers work in pairs or with a school teacher so you are never alone.
There is no cost to the participants for this qualification but we do expect a commitment to supervise a certain amount of sessions. Being a lifesaver is very rewarding and is a great way to make friends and meet people, whilst making a difference to your community.
